Forest Bathing

“We all know how good being in nature can make us feel. The sounds of the forest, the scent of the trees, the sunlight playing through the leaves, the fresh, clean air – these things give us a sense of comfort. They ease our stress and worry, help us to relax and to think more clearly. Being in nature can restore our mood, give us back our energy and vitality, refresh and rejuvenate us”

(Dr. Qing Li Shinrin -Yoku the Art and Science of Forest Bathing)

Shinrin-Yoku - Forest bathing as a medicinal practice in Japan goes back to the 1980s when the government began to notice the adverse effects of the tech boom on Japanese city dwellers, such as depression, distraction and aches and pains. Chronic stress can contribute to the development of ailments like anxiety, depression, and insomnia, to name a few. It can also contribute to physiological problems, like high blood pressure, muscle tension, and lowered immune response.  The results of scientific studies have shown forest bathing improves sleep quality, mood, ability to focus, and stress levels.

I have been trained and certified by Forest Therapy Hub, during the guided walks I will apply the  FTHub Method. A practical tool for designing mindful nature connection activities and planning them in various sequences to promote nature connectedness under the theoretical principles of human-nature interaction, scientific evidence and the conceptual framework of Planetary Health.

The guided walk will last around 2 - 2,5 hours, we’ll walk no more than a kilometer and a half, which should give you a notion of our pace. I’ll be proposing a series of nature connection activities structured in a carefully designed sequence that aims to create experiences that enhance nature connectedness and strengthen social relationships, boosting the therapeutic and restorative effects of nature for health and well-being. After the activities, people are invited to share their experience.

The forest bathing walks are designed to slow down and suitable for all levels of fitness. However, if you have a specific health condition please let me know.

What to bring:  snacks and water if you need to, something to sit on (a plastic bag if it is raining, a towel…),clothing and footwear appropriate for weather conditions.
